So Who Are You?

Find your PURPOSE rather than be assigned it.

If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
– Gospel of St Thomas

Dear Magnificent Ones,

A student once asked The Buddha, “Are you a god, a wizard, or are you a man?”

After much pause, The Buddha merely replied, “I am Awake.”

We get so confused about what we are supposed to be doing with our lives. We keep wondering why nothing makes us happy. We get the job we thought we wanted or that amazing car that looked so cool. We followed the rules, bought the house, had the kids, took care of the parents, called back friends, fed the dog.

What we didn’t realize was that we believed that by doing these things, we would automatically be filled with happiness and contentment in return. As long as we followed some nebulous standards or lived a certain way, we would get something back. A trade of sorts.

Many times these things were not what we wanted to do, nor did we feel right about doing them. We were living a double life, where we did things but felt torn by our inner callings. Our minds were dominated by thoughts that we were missing out on something.

Guess what? You Are. You are sleepwalking. And thereby missing out on WHO YOU REALLY ARE.

After all, you’re most likely not going into the family business because you’re passionate about it, or buying toaster strudels for the kids because that’s what all good moms should do. You think YOU HAVE TO. It’s an unspoken agreement you decided to swallow and incorporate as your own. Otherwise you would be painting canvases in Tuscany right now!

My MAGNIFICENT friends, realize that the only person keeping score is you. Let me repeat: you are the only one keeping score on some imaginary playing field, which will only have detrimental outcomes in your becoming who you are meant to be here on earth. There are no rewards for fakes. There are no medals for being numb towards your true calling, for failing to recognize the sheer IMPERFECT PERFECTION of who you are and refusing to see yourself in your Pure Divinity. That’s what you came here for.

No one can force you to do what you don’t want to do. All of those people who you think are judging you are just following your lead. They react based on the information you present to them.

We recognize that people are not really responding to our body at all but to our inner attitudes, our energy state, and our level of awareness.
–David Hawkins, from Letting Go

You, like many of us, are living out some other person’s version of what your life should be, in the process ignoring the promptings of your own inner voice. It’s no surprise then that life can seem to be one fragmented day after the next, prompting more people than ever to complain that they’re unhappy, feeling out of touch and disillusioned. It’s a wake-up call, that in fact, things aren’t right. But you can make a change that will change the trajectory of your life forever. Even one small degree over time will take you to an entirely new destination.

All it takes is a baby step.

When you try to please others and not betray them, you actually betray yourself in the process. This is the ultimate betrayal. You are allowing their standards to decide Who You Are.

I assure you, you are the only one able to deem yourself REAL and WORTHY. When you believe it, the world will too. Live your life inside out, because whatever is going on inside of you will ultimately spill out and reflect on the outside.

The unconscious brings to us what it thinks it deserves.
–David Hawkins

Your job is to be YOU. Wonderfully, amazingly, unapologetically you. What does that look and feel like? What do you want out of life? Perhaps it is time to give up the unrealistic expectations that forever keep us on the hamster wheel of life, trying to please others and never disappoint anyone.

Moments of clarity, conviction or fearlessness come when grounded in WHO YOU ARE. This is connected to something bigger. You can allow that process to take over and get you to where you need to be.

Ultimately fear has no place when you are in touch with this place of knowing. When you feel that the only way to be considered nice is to remember your boss’s birthday or cook dinner every night, ask yourself if the opposite is true. Do you only consider others nice if they remember to call you on your birthday? It’s time to stop these outrageously unrealistic standards that we put on others and ourselves in order to be seen as nice, worthy, or authentic.

If you feel that you have to DO something in order to be considered real, then it’s not authentic and will keep you in bondage forever.

The only requirement of life is for you to BE Who You Are. Everyone else is already taken. Your only job is to become awake and aware like never before. It is, after all, what we are here for. It’s what time is for.
Most people will spend their lives as Human Doings, not Human Beings. Wake up! Become aware of your surroundings and ask yourself: Do the people, places, and things that fill your life reflect who I am?

Be honest with your answer and listen to what your heart says. Act out your inner promptings, honoring the voice within. Realize that you can’t mess this up. Even if you get on the wrong plane, forgot to call your sister, buy the wrong cereal or burn the toast, at the end of the day it makes no difference.

There was never anything broken. You never needed to be fixed. You are IMPERFECTLY PERFECT. You Are Enough exactly as you are.

For you are royal by birth, DIVINE, and the only person you were up against all along was you.
Are YOU Ready to STOP?

As you take each step I will be there reminding you of your Magnificence, and I will continue to do so, until you are able to see it in yourself.
